On Saturday, May 4th, a sweet day was had by all at the NYC Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry. We couldn’t have asked for better weather! The sunny skies brought out crowds in full force at the Brooklyn Flea. Many thanks again to the team at the Flea for accommodating us and their continued support of this event.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, volunteers, bakers, and donors, we were able to meet and exceed our fundraising goal of $3,000 for No Kid Hungry! However, this is a preliminary total as we are still waiting for some funds to come through. We’ll update this post once that happens.

It’s always amazing to see how baked goods can bring people together for a good cause. People who love food, baking, blogging, and using their platforms for good. These commonalities allow us to truly work together as a team to raise awareness of the food insecurity prevalent in this country. As food bloggers, we hope to continue using our skills and strengths to help those in need.

To our fellow food bloggers and bakers, thank you for making a beautiful day even more so by sharing your love in baked goods and treats.

To our donors and supporters - we appreciate each of you who stopped by our booth at the Flea - whether you picked up one cookie, or went home with a tote bag full goodies, our heartfelt thanks for your support. And let’s not forget all those who made online donations and entered in our sponsored raffles - your donations truly helped us reach our goal.

Finally, to our sponsors - we would like to express our gratitude for partnering with us to help make No Kid Hungry a reality! We could not have done so well without your support.

Please visit our contributors page to see all of the sponsors, bakeries and blogger bakers who played a part in making May 4th an amazing day. Also, for a complete list of donated baked goods see this post

It’s that time of year again!

Each Spring, a team of NYC food bloggers and bakers get together to bake a difference for No Kid Hungry. Help end childhood hunger by joining our team at the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene!

Proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry, the national nonprofit organization working to end childhood hunger in the U.S. by 2015.

We currently have enough volunteers, as well as baked good & raffle donations but you can still help make No Kid Hungry a reality by doing one or all of the following:

  1. Take the No Kid Hungry pledge - it’s free!
  2. Sponsor our team by matching donations, donating a percentage of your business’ sales, or become one of our promotional sponsors. Please fill out this form for more details: Sponsor Sign-Up Form
  3. Tweet and share about our event - follow #NYCBakeSale on Twitter for the latest updates
  4. Invite all of your Facebook friends to the bake sale!
  5. Come down to the Brooklyn Flea on Saturday, May 4th and buy lots of brownies, blondies, cupcakes, cookies, and a whole lot more - there will even be some gluten-free goodies!
  6. Donate online if you can’t make it to the bake sale.  Help us reach our $3,000 goal!
  7. Enter one of our sponsored raffles (with a donation of $10 or more)!

Whichever way you decide to get involved, we truly appreciate your support!

Have questions? Leave them in the comments below or email Lillian at NYCbakesale @ gmail.com. Thanks!

We would like to thank Brooklyn Flea for generously hosting the NYC Bake Sale again this year. The Flea was the Bake Sale’s home for 2012, as well as hosting the Bake Sale for Japan in 2011

Brooklyn Flea has been a New York City fixture since 2008. With hundreds of vendors, there’s something for everyone - from vintage clothing to art to food.

From April through Thanksgiving, Brooklyn Flea is in Fort Greene on Saturdays and Williamsburg on Sundays. In that same span, they also operate Smorgasburg, two all-food markets in Williamsburg on Saturdays and DUMBO on Sundays. During winter months, you can find the Flea at Skylight One Hanson in Fort Greene.

The NYC Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry will be May 4, 2013 from 10am to 5pm at the Fort Greene Flea, located at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont and Vanderbilt Aves.). Come by for delicious baked goods from NYC area bloggers & bakeries and support No Kid Hungry.

Thanks to all of our generous sponsors, bakers, volunteers, supporters, and donors, the NYC Food Blogger Bake Sale was a HUGE success! We were able to raise $3400 (and counting!) $3,655.25 for Share Our Strength!  And even better news is that because we were one of the top 3 food blogger bake sales, Domino Sugar has matched our funds making our grand total: $7,310.50!! You rock, NYC!

We appreciate every single person who stopped by our booth at the Brooklyn Flea  this past Saturday and picked up a sweet treat!  BIG thanks to the Flea for hosting us, Joe’s Crab Shack for sponsoring our awesome volunteer t-shirts, Whole Foods (Union Square) for providing reusable grocery bags for serious sweets lovers, and Fondu (check out their iPhone app!) for their kind donation to cover our advertising/printing needs!

Last, but certainly not least - please give a huge virtual round of applause to all of our blogger-bakers, and especially our day-of volunteers!  Without them, we would not have had the delicious array of goodies as we did, nor would the day have ran as smoothly.  It was truly a team effort.

Thank you, NYC for your kindness and support - together we will make No Kid Hungry a reality.

If you would still like to make a contribution, please click on the “Donate Now” button below.  Every little bit counts!  Thank you.
